If there was ever a place that could amaze even the most “seen-it-all” soul, it’s Hopewell Rocks.  As one of the world’s greatest marine wonders, Hopewell Rocks showcases the awe-inspiring power and beauty of the Bay of Fundy and the highest tides on earth.

During low tide, take advantage of the unique opportunity to walk on the ocean floor, exploring the beach, hidden coves and the majestic “flowerpot” rocks that tower up to four stories overhead.  The result of thousands of years of erosion, these rock formations are like tiny islands that are continuously sculpted with every new tide.

Amazingly, just six hours later during high tide those same footprints you created in the sand are submerged under 12 meters (36 feet) of water as the Bay of Fundy continues its ancient ritual.  Renting a kayak to explore the area during high tide offers a completely different perspective, especially when witnessing the acrobatics of thousands of migrating Bay of Fundy shorebirds.

The natural palette of Hopewell Rocks makes for stunning photos – the rusty red of the earth, the deep green of the trees and the sharp blue of the sky all reflected in the ever-changing ocean coverts every visitor into an avid shutterbug.

Once you’ve finished on the shore, catch a ride on our shuttle service to visit the interactive interpretive centre and learn more about the world-renowned Fundy tides, the fascinating geology and the ancient Mi’kmaq legends about the area.

You can also take in a panoramic view of the Bay of Fundy as you dine in our self-service restaurant. A final stop to our one-of-a-kind gift shop is sure to provide you with the perfect souvenir that will complement the memories of a day spent in the incredible company of nature.

We loved the Hopewell Rock experience. After trekking the ocean floor and taking countless photos of the magnificent rock formations we headed for what we thought would be a mundane, run of the mill tourist snack. The restaurant breakfast was super. What a pleasant surprise along with a wonderful adventure and lesson in geological history.
